Family/Friends

Family and friends are often willing to help out however they can. Here are some tips:

  • Show understanding that Mom and Baby need time to bond and learn to breastfeed after birth.  Ask Mom and Dad how you can help.
  • Don’t visit until Mom and Baby are settled at home.  It can be overwhelming and tiring to have visitors when in the hospital and the first few days at home.
  • Help parents with baby care like changing diapers and burping.
  • Help out with housework, cooking, and grocery shopping.

Provide Mom and Dad with support and encouragement. Breastfeeding can be challenging in the beginning. Your support is very important.
